Using theatre techniques in elementary school.Leader: KENTRO SPOUDON LAIKOU THEATROU

The Methodology

The methodology on the use of theatre techniques in elementary education will be a comprehensive document that will include methods, techniques, scenario examples and best practices related with the use of drama for the teaching of elementary school subjects covering all the subjects and all the classes of the elementary school. It will be an open educational resource translated in all the partner languages which will allow teachers throughout Europe to have a reference point when they search material for the implementation of drama techniques in their classroom. It will be practice based as it will present concrete scenarios covering all the subjects of all the classes of the elementary school.

Activities to be realized for the development of competence profile, step by step:

  1. Drafting of general method for the implementation of drama techniques in
    elementary education:
In this phase, the theatrical organizations that participate in the partnership will draft a general method for the implementation of drama techniques for teaching subjects in elementary education. In this phase, there are going to be described general principles, techniques, methods, scenarios related with the implementation of these techniques.

Special attention will be given to the use of these techniques with children with disabilities or refugees.

  1. Registration of the school curriculum:
The educational organizations that are participating in the project are going to provide a registration of the subjects of the school curriculum in the different participating countries. The registration will cover, in general terms, what is taught in every class of the elementary school. A specific template is going to be developed for this purpose.
  1. Application of the method to the school curriculum:
In this task, the general method developed in the framework of T1.1 is going to be applied in the curriculum registered as 22 part of T1.2. As a result of this technique, the methodology will take a more practical form as it will provide specific scenarios and examples for all the subjects taught in all the classes of the elementary school. This will make the methodology directly applicable for the target group.

D Validation of the Methodology:
Workshops are going to be organized in each partner country for the validation of the draft methodology. In the workshops are going to participate at least 5 stakeholders (teachers, educational experts, school principals, theatrical organizations, policy makers) that will provide feedback to the draft methodology.

  1. Revision of the Methodology:
The methodology is going to be revised according to the feedback received in the framework of the workshops
  1. Translation of the Methodology:
The translated methodology is going to be translated in the languages of the partner countries. Since the activities described above are crucial and will affect the subsequent outputs/activities, all other partners are expected to contribute as much as they can by using their expertise in this field.
