Karşıyaka İlçe Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü (Karsiyaka District National Education Directorate / KMEM – is a state institution dependent to the Ministry of Education and in charge with the planning and coordination of all kinds of educational and training activities in pre-school, primary, secondary and adult education in Karşıyaka District.

It oversees 30 Primary Schools,  21 Elementary Schools, 19 High Schools 5 Kindergartens, 2 Training Application Centers, 1 Adult Education Centre, 1 Counseling and Research Center, Special-Need Education Centres, ICT Education and Art Training Centres.

In total, there are 66 Official and 130 Private Education Institutions associated with KMEM, representing about 2.985 teachers and education staff and 44.896 students. 12.954 students are primary school students.

Not contenting itself with its present success and the present quality of its education, KMEM, supplying this success and quality with international, national and local projects and being in a struggle for the sustainable quality and success, is a big team, clinching its title ‘A Model District in Education’ as the day goes on.

Our directorate is responsible for planning, programming, executing, inspecting, developing, and evaluating the education and training services in Karşıyaka District. As to make those duties come true, our directorate is conducting;

–       Education and Training Service

–       Budget and Investment Service

–       Inspection-Guidance and Ascertainment Service

KMEM also has a paricular and relevant experience with the development of computer learning games for young people. One such experience is in the context of the project MoneyMaster (www.moneyms.eu), co-funded by LLP KA3 ICT, in which KMEM was the applicant organisation and main responsible for the pilot testing phase of the project.
