Materials for the class

Three dry glues.

Nine sheets A4 in different colours for each team.

A paper-punch.

Three hats.

Three ribbons

Markers.

Three paper labels with the names of “Publishers”.

 

Layout of the classroom

Three pairs of desks are needed in the classroom and chairs around it. The rest of desks and chairs are put aside.

Phase 1

Preliminary preparation – the previous day before the lesson, the teacher separates the class into 3 teams of 7 or 8 children. Each student in each team must draw a different moment from the fairy tale on half of A4 sheet. The students from each team decide together who will draw certain moment from the tale

 Phase 2

The desks are organized in 3 places as a “publishers”.  The chairs are around them in accordance with the number of children in each group. There is a name tag, A4 team-coloured sheets, glue, markers, and hats with printed and cut parts of the tale on the desks of each “publisher”.

During the break, the teacher collects the drawings.

The teacher briefly explains what “publisher” is.

The teacher says, “Today you will be the publishers of Ran Bosilek’s book “Grandfather and a Turnip”. Every “publisher” has to make his own book. Each “Publisher” has its own Editor-in-Chief. “The teacher points one student from each team.

Phase 3

Each group sits on the chairs around its “publisher”. The teacher exchanges the pictures of the story with the teams. / For example: Drawings of team 1 go to team 3, team 2 to team 1 and team 3 to team 2. / Every student in each group pulls one sheet of his publisher’s hat, with a part of the tale. Every child should read it on his own. Each student discovers the drawing of his part. The students from each team together must put in order the printed parts.

Each team has to assemble the booklet, each sheet A4 should consist of stuck text with drawing to it. The editor-in-chief of each group should write the title of the story on the first page. He should write the lesson from the story and its author on the last sheet.

Phase 4

When the booklet is ready, the editor-in-chief raises his hand. The teacher goes to the team. Checks the booklet. Punch the papers and tie with a ribbon.
Each team presents its booklets to the other teams.
