Layout of the classroom

The classroom needs space for action.

The teacher have placed the ropes on the floor and has formed two circles.

The four desks have been placed in the middle of the classroom.

Phase 1

Teacher makes a prologue and tells children that are some words that are not written with the Greek letter B (αβ) (εβ)   but with the combination of αυ οr ευ   (av or ev).

The   combination   of   αυ   in   some   specific   words   is   soundς as  av    while in some others as af. The same    happens with the combination of  ευ.(ev or ef)

The goal is to learn these words very well.

Teacher   shows   all   the   20   cards   one by one and all children try to read them. .For example

AV OR AF

Καυσαέριο(KAFSAERIO) exhaust gases

Πύραυλoς (piravlos) rocket,αυλή(avli) courtyard

Αυτοκίνητο(aftokinito) car, αυτί, (afti) the ear

Αυγό(avgo) egg,  ταύρος(tavros),ναυτικός (naftikos) the sailor, etc

EV OR Ef

Χορευτής (xoreftis) dancer,πεύκο(pefko) pine tree

Ψαρεύω(psarevo) I fish, γεύμα(gevma) the meal

Κεραυνός(keravnos) thunderbolt, δουλεύω(doulevo) I work etc

Teacher   places   the   specific   words   on the blackboard in random order.

Phase 2

Student are divided in two groups. The group of αυ(av -af) and the the group of ευ(ev-ef).

The group of αυ combination takes from the blackboard the words containing the combination aυ and  they place them in the right rope circle. The other group with the ευ combination does the same in the left rope circle.

Phase 3

Teacher tells to children that four wagons of a train are   standing   in   front   of them.

Each group of the ropes will be divided into subgroups. On the first wagon will sit the group whose words are read with the sound of av while  on  the  second  the  group  whose  words  are  read with the sound of af.

The same happens with ev  ef  subgroup.

The teacher’s bell ring and the four subgroups are   sitting   on the corresponding wagons holding the cardboards with the appropriate words.

Phase 4

All the children sit on the carpet. Every child, with teacher’s instructions , imitates  the  picture  of  the  word  (for  example,  car )  it has chosen, using the improvisation technique. The other children must guess which of the words the child imitates.

At   the   end,   children   can   remember   how   to   write   or   pronounce   the specific   words .They have linked the image in the correct script of the word.

Teacher can repeat the process with other words and children can build a bank of these specific words.
