Materials for theLesson

Signs with written feelings for groups.

Prepared short stories containing different feelings/emotions.

Layout of the classroom

Benches so pupils can sit in groups of 4.

Phase 1

Teacher has beforehand written the feelings that he/she has handed out to the different groups;

E.g

Fear

Anger

Sadness

And so on…

He/She starts by introducing these feelings and concept of them to the class.

 Phase 2
Now the teacher has made up different stories with different feelings in them. He/she reads the stories out loud in class eg, “Dennis walked home from school and was a bit shaky since he had a math test the day after. He had forgotten all about it and was afraid what his parents would say”.

When the teacher is done reading he/she asks the class if they could recognize any feeling in the story?

Hopefully the “fear” group walks up to the board and so on.

phase 3

After each story you discuss with the group’s standing why they thought their feeling was appropriate for the storie.

Phase 4

Now the teacher tells all the groups that he/she wants them to make up a story that covers all the feelings written on the board. He/she walks around helping the different groups since it’s a bit complex.

Phase 5

One group at a time now stands in front of the class reading their stories that contains all the feelings being discussed this lesson.
