Layout of the classroom

He desks are aside to have action in the middle.         In front of the black-board we place a line of desks and form a long surface.

1st Phase

  • Preparation
All students write their name on a post-it paper and stick it on their lapel. In others they write the days of the week and the months of the year.

  • They take off one shoe and stick on it the paper with the name of a day or a month.

  • Hey throw their shoe in the box.

  • All students stand around the box.

2nd Phase

With the sound of the teachers Bell and his/her direction, the children take a shoe randomly (not necessarily theirs) and place it on the line of desks. Then, the other children take a shoe and place it next to the other according to the month and its place in the year.
For example:
If the first student got the month July, runs and places it on the desks. Then the second student gets February, runs and puts it next to the other but a bit further on the left side. The third one gets month May, runs and places it in between the 2 others of February and July.

The same can be done with the days of the week in another line.

3rd Phase

The teacher then tells the students to go one-by-one and place the post-it with their name on the month-shoe that their name has a name-day (or a birthday) celebration.

4th Phase

Let’s go Shopping

The children go to their desks with the shoes and   stickers with the name-days of their classmates, take one and decide what gift they can get them.

With their teachers advice they can narrate a small story around what gift they could go and find and where for their classmate, what he/she actually likes and is difficult to find (hypothetically).
(It would be good for the teacher to be prepared in order to avoid easy answers like “I will go to that large mall or shop and get a car or that toy”).
