Clay, rolling pin, plastic tablecloth, things that can leave different imprints, pictures of animals  and their footprint.

Class Disposition

Class with desks divided in groups

Phase 1

Teacher introduces the subject. He/she can show some pictures of animals and their footprints . Later, he/she can  show just the fingerprints and let the children guess who they belong to. He then explains that fingerprints can also be left out of the items and ask the children if they have some examples.

Phase 2

Teacher explains to the children who will now try to make imprint using clay. Each child will be given a piece of clay that will have to be laid with the use of the rolling pin. When the clay is ready, each child will recieve an object (cap, pen, temper …) to be imprinted on  material .

Phase 3

After completing the second phase, the teacher collects the objects with which the prints were made. Invite the children to choose an object other than what they used during the lab. The game may start. When everyone is ready each child must look for the mark corresponding to the chosen object and stop near the piece of clay chosen. When all the children have finished, the teacher checks if there have been any mistakes.

Phase 4

This topic is discussed with the children through a discussion of the experience that has been made. The teacher can propose an individual card to enhance the learning of the lesson
