Phase 1

Teacher introduces the subject  by explaining the difference between gross weight, net weight and tare through pictures and examples taken from everyday life.

Phase 2

Students are divided into small groups. Each group will be assigned a problem to  solve by either finding the gross weight, or tare or net weight. Each group will  have the container and objects mentioned in the problem. Students will try to solve the problems by using containers and objects available. When each group  has found the solution to the problem, it has to report to the teacher.

Phase 3

The different groups will show  the problem assigned to them to the rest of their classmates through a short performance. In order to do so, each group will identify a narrator, the different characters. They can use the container and objects provided in the second phase. After the presentation of each scene, the rest of the classmates will propose the solution to the problem. The activity ends when each group presented their work.

Phase 4

Teacher confronts students about the experience .  Each group  will invent a problem based on  gross weight / net weight / tare, by inserting into the text the objects and containers used in the previous phases.
