Layout of the classroom

The classroom is in its normal shape.

Phase 1

The teacher is dressed as a pirate. He/she says to the students:

“Hello! I’m Captain Jack Sparrow!

Today you are a part of the crew of my ship – The Black Pearl! I knew that you are already acquainted with all the consonants. Today they are hiding in different objects in our classroom. Your mission is to find them. To find them easier, we will use my monocle. It shows everything. Are you ready?”

 Phase 2

To make it more fun, we will do it with a game. It’s called the “One-eyed pirate.” In it, each one of you will become a captain of “The Black Pearl” for a while. Here’s how we’ll do it:

A student stands in front of the board. The teacher puts on them the pirate hat and the pirate eye bandage. The student takes the paper monocle and looks for an object that everyone can see but he/she does (they do) not tell the others what it is. They should say:

“I see, I see with my little eye, something beginnings with … followed by the first letter of the object.”

The student can also say:

“I see, I see with my little eye, something endings with … followed by the last letter of the object.”

For example: The student says:

“I see, I see with my little eye, something beginnings with d … / а desk/

The first or last letter of the object must be the one of the learned consonants

Phase 3

Everyone else takes turns guessing things that they can see that start or end with that letter.

The student who guesses the object first becomes a captain. The game ends when all the students have been the captain of “The Black Pearl”.

The teacher writes the guessed objects on the board.

Phase 4

The teacher can hand out some pirate awards to everyone.
