Layout of the classroomEmpty floor. |
Phase 1The class stands in a circle. In the middle the teacher has mixed all the papers. Teacher tells the class that the items on the papers now are in DISORDER.First she picks a card, without showing it, and goes back to her place in the circle. The pupil next to her now has 15 seconds to find the card matching hers (the teacher manages the time). If the pupil picks the wrong card he/she has to put it back in the disordered mess in the middle. If he/she picks the right matching card, place it on the floor in front of him/herself. Then pick a new card from the disordered and let the pupil sitting next try to find the matching card (also 15 sec) |
Phase 2Exercise is finished when all cards lay in order in front of pupils. |
Phase 3Now the teacher gives each student a letter of the alphabet. Teacher helps class to line up in the order of the alphabet. Sing a song with them to teach them the alphabet. Now she tells them run around in the middle of the room and the when she says stop they try to form the alphabet again. Don’t bother with time but try instead to help them. |
Phase 4(for example) Teacher pulls aside letter D and G. He/she asks the class to send forward the letter that would spell an animal. She also explains how you need the letters in order to make up words.Teacher can make as many examples as he/she wants. |
Phase 5Pupils pull their own bench to the place it should be before exercise. They do it one at a time. And the pupil with letter A starts.End with a discussion about how order can help people with everyday life. |
