Stage 4: classroom

Phase 1

Teacher introduces the topic of the greater than, less than and equals to . It may be useful to make examples using objects. Symbols> = <will also be introduced

Phase 2

At the end of the explanation, each child will be given two white cardboards with a large number written on it. Each child will have to draw on each card, with the colors, the number of pictures (e.g. stars) indicated by the number. Meanwhile, the teacher will have to prepare several (two per type) symbols of greater, smaller, equal (<=>). Eventually the cards sketched by the children will be collected by the teacher.

Phase 3

students are accompanied by the teacher in the courtyard or in the gym.

The game consists of a relay race during which the children, divided into two teams, will have to match the correct symbol with the pair of cardboard hanging on a twine. After explaining the game, the children in the two teams will have to stand in line up by one behind a row. In front of the teams, a thread will be hung on which the learner will have to hang the cards pairs (a pair per team) with the use of clips, leaving a space between a cardboard and the other. Each team will give the <=> symbols previously drawn by the teacher. When everyone is ready, the first child in the row will have to choose the right symbol to hang between the cards. If it is correct, the child returns the symbol to the second of the row and the teacher changes the cards, otherwise he/she may try again. The game continues until everyone has had a chance to play.

Stage 4

Teacher gathers together the students and collects their thoughts on their experience to find out if they liked it and what kind of difficulties they encountered. You can also set up exercises on the blackboard to find out if the topic has been learned.
