Phase 1Teacher explains that the subject of the lesson will be focused on European flags. Ask the children if they recognize any flags and if they know anything about the story of their countries’ flags . Then the pictures of different European flags are shown and chosen for the lesson. |
Phase 2The teacher divides the pupils into small groups and entrusts each group with a flag. With the use of colored fabrics, each group will try to reproduce the assigned flag. When the group has completed the flag, they are asked to look for the story of that particular flag at home. |
Phase 3The students are divided into the working groups formed in the second phase and compare the history of the flag they have been looking at home. After the comparison, they write a single text that can be valid throughout the group. When each group has completed this part of the job, it will be possible to start with the presentation of the flags to all the classmates. For the presentation of the flags one could create a somewhat solemn climate with the use of the national anthem. The group of children makes their entry holding in their hands the flag made in the second phase and when they arrive in front of the classmates the narration begins. The activity ends when all flags have been presented. |
Phase 4Teacher collects all flags and histories related to each one. Along with the students, an installation is hung in the hallway so that the students of the other classes can see the work they did. |
